(1 Year Performance 1/1/2011-31/12/2011)
In the year 2011, bond funds in Asia and emerging markets dominated the league of Top Performers. As investors scurry to the safety of fixed income, away from the volatility in the equity markets in light of the uncertain Europe debt crisis and slowdown in the Chinese economy. Funds that are invested in defensive sectors such as healthcare performed well. FTIF Franklin Biotechnology Discovery Fund A (Acc) SGD was the top performing fund, returning 16.02% in 2011. Country-specific funds invested in Malaysia and Thailand also enjoyed good returns.

Most of the Top 20 Worst Performing Funds are from other emerging country specific funds such as India and China and Emerging markets region funds. After a year of relatively strong performance in 2009, China country specific funds were on the down trend last year amidst rising inflation and stricter property controls. Being plagued by ongoing sovereign bond issues, the Europe equity market were under pressure.
